Hello All Stars!!!
Welcome to your Fourth Elimination.
Based on the poll, Janet & Hilary received highest vote for the weakest photo this week while Anne & Mia are not far behind.
Let's see the photos
Angela - Fantasy
Ayu: I don't think you should worry about a MMO shoot. It's probably a bit too niche for (Non-Asian) celebrities. Probably only something for fictional characters, so I don't think you should worry. Plus, if we do, I 100% know you have another of these in your portfolio. On to your picture. Fantastic face, but the image is over photoshopped to hell and back. Definitely not a fan of the wings. I get that you're a valkyrie, but it's just so fake.
Emmy: I find the facial expression a bit vacant, but the overall style and feel of the picture is exquisite, and I think it definitely fits with the theme. Nice work!
Yoona: I like this but I have to agree with Ayumi on the photoshopped part. But it's supposed to be a fantasy shot. As long as you didn't crop your face and put it onto another body, I'm fine with it. I think the outfit is weird but it's perfect for your genre. Good job
Jensen: Photo shopped like crazy but excellent beautiful picture
Anna - Crime
Ayu: It's a nice picture, fashion is impeccable, but i don't see the connection to crime. I mean, apart from your dead expression. I appreciate your attempt at imagination, and but I think you could have chose a different genre with this picture. Or even taken the easy way out by choosing musical or chick flick. We wouldn't penalise you on taking the easy way out, especially if you produced a great photo.
Emmy: It's a good photo, and I'm surprised that Ayu doesn't see the strung-out wasted shell of a woman that you're portraying here, but I guess if you're the ocean you don't really see water. For the the connection's pretty good, and I love the outfit and facial expression. Not completely sold on the pose, but I think it works for what you're going for here. Great work!
Yoona: Not a fan of your expression. But I like the overall vibes of this photo. But please be careful with your expression next time. I don't feel anything from it. You looked tired.
Jensen: I didn't know corpse's could stand. Good job.
Anne - Action
Ayu: Sorry, Anne, but you're no Barbara Feldon. The quality is absolutely deplorable! You could have got a less zoomed in movie poster for this. This, I can't get past that quality.
Emmy: Loving the fierceness of that expression, but I wish you could have given us a better full-body shot for this. The quality is pretty awful, that's just the truth, but the pose and styling aren't bad. Not astounding, but definitely not terrible either.
Yoona: This photo has so much potential. But the quality, the focus... It was really bad Anne. I was quite surprised by it. It's sucks cause this photo has so much potential.
Jensen: I wouldn't worry too much about quality as yours is at least the best image of all the bad quality photos and there were A LOT this round.
Christina - Sci-Fi
Ayu: I love how 1950s pinup style camp this is, and it's exactly your style, and to my tastes. I like your make up, but not so much your expression. But that's a small nitpick.
Emmy: The photo's a little washed-out for me. Between the platinum blonde and the paleness of your face, the whole thing seems a bit glaring. That being said, I feel like you've captured the essence of the campy old-school sci fi genre pretty perfectly here. Great work!
Yoona: Love this. The styling is my favorite part of this photo. Overall, this is gorgeous. The element of Sci-Fi is very strong. Great job, X
Emma - Horror
Ayu: I hope we don't have the dreaded sisters shoot and you and Laura get put together. That would be totally awkward. I think you did a good job, it's sort of a glamourous, exploitation horror film. Like Grindhouse. I just wish there was more of this too see.
Emmy: Those eyes are staring right into my soul, but in a good way. Loving this photo, it's everything I dreamed it would be.
Yoona: Easily my favorite photo from you, Emma. This is scary, haunting and creepy. But you still look fabulous in this photo. Great job, Em. You're improving from week to week.
Jensen: I thought that was a red leather glove at first lol I don't see creepy or horror except the blood, but I think this is easily one of the best pictures of the round.
Hilary - Romance
Ayu: Beautiful dress, Hil, but I am not loving the washed out sepia tone at all. And there's not really any story here to tell, and that's what's getting me. You say romance film, but if you had not have said that's a wedding dress, I would have not known. There seems to be an issue with quality too. It's a decent photo soon.
Emmy: I also might not have picked up on the wedding dress, but I think the quality and poorness of color is really what drags this down a bit. The pose is divine and I like the dress itself, but it's a bit hard to get past the issues with the photo itself.
Yoona: Hilary, this isn't your first time of having the same problem. Quality. What fansite did you used for the photos. I think you need to reconsider finding a new site for Hilary Duff. As for the photo, I love it. I can feel the romance. You're waiting for your Mr Right. I like it.
Jensen: Gorgeous picture, and the sepia doesn't bother me, what bothers me is that horrible horrible quality.
Imogen - Fantasy (Fairytale)
Ayu: This picture just oozes low-budget Disney knock-off. I don't mean that as a bad thing though, because some of my best childhood film memories were with low-budget Disney knock-offs. The ambience is really what makes this picture. Basically, I am really loving everything here... Except your face. It's a bit too mature and sombre for this theme.
Emmy: I really love this. I think it's a great homage to the Disney classics, mixing cartoons with real people. My main complaint would be that it's a tad cluttered - there's so much going on here that it's hard to focus on just you and the modelling.
Yoona: I love this. Very unique and different. I applaud the creativity in this photo. I think you can work more on the expression but overall, this is very strong photo.
Jensen: What's with the quality this round? DAMN girl. I like this. I think it looks too fake for my liking, but I like it.
Janet - Drama (Afro-Centric)
Ayu: I think this is a great nod to the indie black films. You did a great job explaining this, and I think the picture tells a story, similar to the one you say. Also good job BSing the quality as a nod to age and drama. I'm most impressed by that.
Emmy: I definitely understand the representation, but I think that in terms of actual modeling, there really isn't much here. It's very plain and safe, and in an AS cycle it's a bit harder to get away with that sort of thing. You're not the only one, but it's definitely something to consider.
Yoona: I like the simplicity in this photo but at the same time I can't help myself to feel that this photo is a little bit boring and safe. I want it to be more dramatic and I didn't get that from this photo.
Jensen: The quality is shit and doesn't give me a historical feeling at all. Gives me a bad photo choice feeling. Sorry
Kim - Western
Ayu: You look a bit short here, and there are those eyes again, staring off past the camera and just looking vacant. Luckily, you have a great team of makeup artists on your side to give them the appearance of intensity. Dress is great, and has a good inspiration to the showgirls in the ol' saloons with an updated feel.
Emmy: I get more of an Old West feel from the setting than from you or your outfit, so I'm a bit mneh about it. I think it's a good representation, and you pull it off nicely, but the facial expression isn't the strongest we've seen from you, and the pose is just sort of generic to me. It's good, but there's nothing there to really push it over the top.
Yoona: I have issue with the pose. I think it made you look shorter than usual. I love the styling though. Nice combination with the setting but yeah, expression. Please be careful with it.
Jensen: I love this! Very sexy and cute.
Laura - Romance
Ayu: Great pose, Laura, great dress too, but there's one key element missing from this picture: Romance. I don't see really how this fits the romance genre at all. This is just a low-energy picture without a theme connection to me.
Emmy: I can get behind the classy seduction angle, but there isn't enough here to make it particularly memorable for me. I think it's a solid shot and there's nothing wrong with it, it's just that I don't particularly see anything with the Wow factor.
Yoona: I love this more than the other two judges. I think it's very sensual and romantic in it's own way. I love how strong were your profile shot. Overall, I think this is very solid.
Jensen: Everything about this is almost great. But your expression lacks for me and that's not great.
Mia - Family
Ayu: It's very pink! Like. Very pink. I'm liking this as a fashion photograph... But as a family film? Even with your film pitch, I'm not buying it with this picture. I think I would have preferred you take the easy route and bring us something stunning from Alice in Wonderland.
Emmy: It's an interesting (and somewhat unsettling) take on the genre, but I think you do an adequate job of depicting it. I don't know how to feel about the fact that there are a lot of things I just don't like on an aesthetic fashion, but they all work in the context of what you're portraying here. Overall it's a positive vibe from me, I guess.
Yoona: I love the photo but in term of the relation with the family theme. I didn't get it. I feel like there's other genre that might suit this photo more like Drama, Mystery or even Thriller. But like I said earlier. I love this photo just not the theme for it.
Jensen: I thought Fantasy at first but then with the family, I thought ok, I guess I can get it. You look like a little child and then you have the stuffed animal. So while not my favourite, I get it and I like it. And I love pink
Paloma - Mystery
Ayu: Unlike Anna's picture, I totally see this as a Mystery style film, even without the explanation. Just based on picture, this reminds me a little bit of series like Miss Marple and Murder, She Wrote. From your description, I'm getting now a very Cluedo-esque vibe. Fashion and face are on point here. I think you did a great job.
Emmy: I definitely see the crime vibe in this, very Clue or Agatha Christie. Excellent job!
Yoona: Okay.. Wow.. I love everything about this photo. You slayed me this week, P
Jensen: Bravo Miss Paloma, BRAVO!
Shailene - Horror
Ayu: It's huge Shailene. That will hurt you. You can actually upload to tinypic with your photo, and that can resize it there (I just tried it)! Just save the image to your phone, then use tinypic to reupload it. Alternatively, if the site allows hotlinking, copy and paste the URL into the upload by URL function of tinypic, and resize the picture there. As for your picture, I'm getting a very nice homage to Ringu here, except made fashion. I just wish you had explained it a bit more.
Emmy: Definitely see the Ringu connection. The quality is awful and the image looks scanned, but since Ringu is all about grainy videotape, it actually works in your favor this time around. I think the size is really the only quibble I have with this, and it's a very minor one.
Jensen: It's Samara!!! lol Good job.
Yoona: I like this. So creepy and the styling really work for what you're trying to portray here. Great job, Shai.
